My dad used to say, “Don’t re-invent the wheel.” I try not to. So let me share this resource with you.

I attend at least a couple of labor law seminars every year to keep up with the ever-changing Human Resource landscape. One of my favorite days is spent with the labor and employment group of the law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA from Manchester, NH.    Attorney Jim Reidy is not only a very entertaining speaker, but each year, he also publishes the Top Ten Wage & Hour Violations with information from NH’s Department of Labor.  I’m sure if you e-mail him (jreidy [at] sheehan [dot] com), he will be glad to share it with you.   The worst wage & hour violation in 2011 was “Failure to keep accurate records of all hours worked. (Not recording meal breaks taken). RSA 279:27 and Lab 803.03”.   You should also check out nhlabornet [at] lists [dot] sheehan [dot] com (nhlabornet [at] lists [dot] sheehan [dot] com)   This is an interactive service where members ask questions and get advice from others in the HR field, including lawyers. Best of 2012 to all of you!
