Do you have unhappy employees?

It’s a classic story. The company owner is at a company function, and one of the guests says, “Your employees seem very happy. You must treat them well.”   The company owner replies, “Yes, I do. That is only one of the major strategic actions I take to create a good culture & a good environment for my people. “ The guest asks, “What is another strategic action?” The company owner says, “I fire the unhappy employees.”

If you have employees who are never happy, no matter what you do, you will never make them happy. They can bring the rest of the employees down with their negative attitude, and their grousing makes for an unpleasant work environment. HR Compliance 101 anticipates this problem by including “must be able to work cooperatively with others” in all of our job descriptions. The expectation is clear and part of the criteria for keeping the job.
