Getting Known on the Internet

A few days ago, I answered a question on LinkedIn and the person asking the questions asked for permission to use my answer online in his very interesting post about writing strong headlines. I'm happy to fill requests like that which is why I always follow and recommend these rules when communicating online:
- Answer professionally. If I cannot be objective, if I am tempted to rant, I don't answer the question. What I say online stays online.
- Write professionally. Who wants to trust a big project to someone who can't be bothered to spell out IMHO?
- Think professionally. I'm a sole proprietor, but the same rule applies to everyone from an employee to the owner of a major corporation. You are your brand. Make sure you represent yourself well.
When you answer questions on the Internet, you're grasping an opportunity to market your business and your expertise. Use it well.
