One of our local employers was on the front page of the Monadnock Ledger last week regarding a $400,000 settlement with OSHA for worker safety violations. Ouch! Quick Answers to Marketing Writing Questions

Today's blog gives some quick answers to common questions about marketing writing.
Q. How often should I blog?
On an individual blog, plan to post new content at least once a week. On a group blog, you can get away with fewer posts, depending on how frequently other members of the group blog. But plan on at least once a month and preferably more. When people return to the blog, you want to give them a reason read about you.
Q. Is it expensive to hire a marketing writer?
Well, look at this way: how many customers are you losing and how many resources are you squandering while your website content, brochure, blog posts, success stories and press releases sit on your desk or cycle through revision after revision? In the NH area, you can hire a freelance marketing writer for $60 an hour (more or less). But ask for a project rate--some writers take 10 hours for a project that other writers can finish in 5 hours.
Q. What about online freelance writing sites, like Elance? Writers there come really cheap.
Would you hire the cheapest dentist on the Internet for your root canal or the one with the best reputation in your area? Writers on Elance and similar sites tend to get jobs by underbidding, not because of their skill, references or experience. You may find a jewel; chances are, you won't.
Q. Does it still make sense to write articles or press releases for print media (newspapers, magazines)?
Definitely. In fact, the few items that still arrive by mail tend to stand out, which is part of the reason why retail stores haven't given up on mailing brochures.
