Ways to Hire A Really Bad Employee
Submitted by HR Compliance 101 on Wed 12/14/11 5:36 pm
There was a headline in one of our local papers recently about an employee working for a cleaning service who stole from the clients...and got caught. I'll bet that this employer didn't read our HR Compliance 101 newsletter (2nd quarter of 2007). Some of the ways to guarantee that sooner or later you'll hire someone you wish you'd never seen:
- don't check resumes for unexplained gaps or job switches
- don't conduct phone or on-site interviews
- don't get references
- don't worry if a candidate doesn't remember the names or contact information from past employers
- don't check references
- don't verify dates of hire & termination at previous jobs; let the canddiate hide work gaps by changing the start and end dates of jobs
We've helped many companies set up interview processes that avoid bad hires, keep companies sat from lawsuits, and also save time & money. Go to our website, www.hrcompliance101.com to view any of our previous newsletters or to read this newsletter in full.
