Website and Blog Content: Out of Date? Out of Luck!

On a search for information about local events, I found website after website that hadn't been updated since 2010 or earlier. My frustration mounted with each useless result, especially since I knew the businesses and organizations in question were still operating. But clearly they had no pride, no commitment to their customers or clients and no realization of what it means to let a website or blog age in place.

Would you open a store and then let dust accumulate on your products?

Would you promise a customer to show up for a meeting at 10 a.m. and then skip it without notice?

Would you move your business but keep your old address on your invoices and business cards?

Then why would you let your website refer to "upcoming" product announcements for 2009 and let your abandoned blog invite people to an open house in the spring of 2011?

Out of date websites and blogs lose customers. Can anyone afford that?
